Communications Report

September 2008

I would like to thank all the committees and others involved for making my job as webmaster harder.  Since our Local Union website was put online, members have found more and more communications and reports that could be made available to our members.

Although the committee reports have not increased very much, the special announcements have greatly increased.  Other publications have been added to the internet such as the Auto Know and Focus on Labor.  Each month I seem to get more and more communications to put on our web site.

During the threat of a local strike and during the national strike, information updates were put online to keep the membership informed.  Should anything else come up, the information can be put online in a matter of hours or even minutes.  The more we realize the capabilities of the internet, the more we will use it as a communicator.  Please keep the information flowing and make me work harder yet.

Please note that the local union publication of Focus on Labor is not directly available to the public now.  Due to sensitive information and government restrictions, Focus on Labor cannot be available to the public.  There are ways to make the publication available to the members and not the public online.  One way is by using a password.  Unfortunately, this will not work for us without a cost.  Another way is to not have a link on the website.  This is the direction I chose and is now in effect:

Anyone can get the Focus on Labor issues that have been put on the web site by going to http://www.uawlocal730.com/focus/focus.htm

Bookmark this location, and you will be able to get back to the page at any time.
