Communications Committee Report for August, 2008

There are still a large number of people that do not know that UAW Local 730 has a web site.  Those that do know we have a site usually don’t know what information is on it. Sometimes it takes a little looking, but there is a lot of information there with additional information continuously being added.

Recently added to the list of items on the site is the Focus on Labor Publication.  This will be added each month and I will keep 6 months of Focus on Labor online.   The Auto know is online also and there is at least a year of Auto Know publications available.  There will be at least 6 months of publications online at a time and up to 1 year.

The Chairman’s and President’s reports that I have received since the beginning of the website in 2003 are on line.  There is a list of committees with pictures of the members, and reports that have been turned in since 2003 on the web site.

Other items that are on the site are:   All calendars since 2003 that are put out by Local 730.  The monthly winners of the union meeting raffles.

There is also an area where there are historical pictures of our plant from the 1940’s where the plant was converted to produce artillery instead of cars.  There are old pictures of the plant presses and workers, along with pictures of an open house in the 1950’s.    There are also pictures in a slideshow format of the 2008 Local 730 Picnic.

For your convenience there is also a list of phone numbers for the union, plant and benefits with the link on the first page of the web site.

Be sure to check it out at http://www.uawlocal730.com.  If you have any questions, comments or requests please send me an e-mail at webmaster@uawlocal730.com or talk to me.
