The Real McCain Record on Veterans

McCain refused to support a bill called, “Post 911 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2007.”  He also voted against all of the following Senate amendments:

·        #2735 Would have provided $19 billion for military health facilities.

·        #149 Would have provided $2.8 billion to increase Veterans’ medical care.

·        #3007 Would have increased medical service funding by $1.5 billion and would have been paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes.

·        #3141 Would have provided $6.9 billion in 2007 and $104 billion over five years for Veterans’ health care.  Would have been paid for by restoring top tax rates for earners over $1 million to pre 2001 rates while closing various corporate tax loopholes.

·        #2909 Called for adequate troop rest between deployments.

·        #3642 Would have provided funding of medical services for the Dept. of Veteran Affairs outpatient care.  McCain was 1 of only 13 senators that voted against it.

·        #1817 Would have provided $322 million for safety equipment for troops in Iraq.

·        #452 Would have provided $1 billion for National Guard and reserve equipment in Iraq.

·        #1218 Would have provided an increase for medical care for Veteran’s.

Would have, could have, should have!?!?!

Another example is every time a bill has “Buy American” restrictions on it, he has always objected to that part of the bill.  McCain has proven time and time again that he does not take care of his own when it comes to our Veterans and working families.
