Teeters Tidbits

Local 730, U.A.W. Retiree Chapter

By Harold Teeter, Trustee

 Hi,

Here we go, into the third season of the year.  Things are starting to cool off a little.  In fact, we had our first frost this morning; a good sign that fall is here.   It doesn’t look like the color will be as nice this fall, because of the dry weather.  Never the less, its here and people will have to start getting their snowmobiles ready for the next season to come.  I’m not looking forward to that, but I guess it will be here anyhow.

We have a lot of activity coming up in the next couple of months, starting with our 17 Annual Retirees’ Excellence Award Dinner scheduled for Friday, October 21 at Region 1D Headquarters.

Annual Retirees’ Mailing

On the Local side, we mailed letters to all retiree’s that we had addresses for October 6; so if we had your address, you should have them by now.

Saturday, November 5 - Arts and Crafts Show

24th Annual Arts and Craft Show is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Region 1D, with drawings on the hour and half hour.  (You must be there to win.)  Parking is free and there will be lots of food you can buy.  If you would like to have a display, call Evelyn Jansma at (616) 364-4075 for more information.

Thursday, November 17 - Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner

The November Retirees’ meeting will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2005, at the Local 730 Union Hall located at 3852 Buchanan Avenue SW, starting at twelve o’clock noon with a Thanksgiving potluck dinner.  (Take note that this is a week sooner than our regular scheduled meeting.)  The Chapter will furnish meat, potatoes, coffee, rolls, and butter.  Please bring your own table service.  For your dish to pass, please be guided by the following.  If your last name begins with:

          A through M - Bring a hot dish.                   N through Z - Bring a cold dish.

Thursday, December 8 – Retirees Christmas Dinner

Once again, our dinner will be held at 12 o’clock noon at St. Mary’s Visitation Parish located at 2459 140th Avenue, Byron Center.  The cost is still $5 per person for dues paying retirees and spouses only.  Reservation deadline is Thursday, November 16.  A map to get you there was included in the letter you received earlier this month.

If you didn’t receive one, contact the local union office and give us your correct address.  We try to keep up-to-date, but if you move and don’t let us know of your change, there’s not much we can do for you.

Friday, December 9 - Dollar Drive Drawing

Also, remember your Dollar Drive tickets and get them in.  That drawing will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, December 9, at the regional office.  There will be several cash prizes.

For now, I will let you rest for a while.  Following is a list of the latest departed friends and the latest retired members.  We would like to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the families and friends of our departed members.
