Recreation Committee Report December 2007
Christmas 2007 Sunday, December 9, our Local had its Christmas party at Studio 28 with over 1400 members and their families. This is about 1000 family members less than last year before the GM buyout. The movie this year was Fred Claus with Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti and was about two brothers - one being the older brother that did not get along. With the number of members signed up, we had five shows starting at noon and five shows starting at 3:30 p.m. There was popcorn and pop - all you could eat and drink.
We passed out buttons with Fred Claus on them and saying, “Merry Christmas from Local 730”. This was their ticket to get in and out of the show. We also used the button for the kids to think Santa was watching them. Santa passed out candy and talked to the kids to see what they wanted for Christmas. All for the price of a non-perishable item or canned good that we gave to Greenville’s Local 137 Union Sisters and Brothers that their plant closed and moved south. We collected and delivered over 1600 canned goods and $65 in donations.
