President’s Report by Don Southwell

March 16, 2004

Pagers and Cell Phones

It has been brought to our attention and discussed at the Executive Board for the membership to please turn off their pagers and cell phones during union meetings, (or change to vibrate). Your cooperation in this matter will be very much appreciated.

Election Committee

At this time there is an opening for an Alternate Election Committee member for third shift.

Joint Training Fund Expenditures’ Audit Our Joint Auditors stated our books balanced with the corporate general ledger and there were no improprieties in spending. "All records are in order, and everything is according to funding guidelines."

Planned Maintenance Audit

We scored 1388.76 points out of a possible 1500. Two years ago we scored 1314 points. This re-certified the plant for Phase 2, and helps toward the 1450 needed for Phase 3.

Grand Rapids Mayor’s Environmental Advisory Committee

Mayor Heartwell has formed an Environmental Advisory Committee and has asked our Local to send representatives to monthly meetings to share their input. It was decided that Mike Walker, Co-Chair of the Conservation Committee, and myself would attend these meetings.

V-CAP Check Off

Through our V-CAP Check Off Drive, an additional $6000 has been raised. Thank you for your help.
