President’s Report by Greg Golembiewski

September 2008

Greetings Members of Local 730,

I hope everybody had an enjoyable Labor Day weekend.  The weather sure was great.  Now that September is upon us, we will be focusing on all our efforts on the election in November.  We need everybody on board helping this fall.  Whether it be working the phone banks, doing literature drops, working with voter registration, poll challengers, or helping someone get to the polls on election day – this is going to take a lot of work from the leadership, membership, and retirees.  I am confident we are up for the challenge and look forward to working with you.

Benefit Rep Position

Steve Rop and I have completed the interview process for the first shift Benefit Rep position and three names were submitted to the International for final selection.  On behalf of Local 730, we would like to thank the 16 people who showed interest in the position.  It is our hope that you will continue to pursue positions as they become available.

VIP Visit

On August 28, GM Vice President of Quality Jamie Hresko and his staff, along with Manufacturing Manager of Stamping Cathy Clegg, were in our plant for the day reviewing our Quality Process (D-20) on CC Line, and also down on PP Line.  Both parties were impressed with our procedures that we have in place and made reference to the positive impact our members on the floor left them with.  The group discussed the importance of GMS and SPQRC, and told us to remain focused.

Standing Committees

We are currently reviewing the applications that were submitted and will have them in place by the October executive board meeting.

2nd Shift Alternate Health and Safety Rep

Interviews will be conducted within the next couple of weeks.
