Women’s Committee Dinner Honoring Retirees

The Women’s Committee did a great job with their first retirees’ dinner.  They worked very hard to make sure our retiree’s enjoyed themselves.  We were very sorry Tina Abbott from the AFL-CIO could not make it to be there as our keynote speaker due to unforeseen circumstances.  As her replacement, I really enjoyed hearing from our UAW endorsed candidate for Attorney General – Amos Williams.  Amos served in Vietnam earning the bronze star for valor.  He protected citizens in Detroit for 17 years as a police officer and as a trial lawyer.  Amos has a history of defending veterans, workers, seniors, women, the disabled, and anyone whose rights have been violated.  So I know he will be the best top lawyer for the state of Michigan.  Thanks again to our Women’s Committee.  They have been wanting to do this for our retiree’s for a long time.

Woman-to-Woman Program

This is a program our Women’s Committee will be working on again this year.  They will be talking one-on-one with other women members about the importance of the election.  It is a two-way conversation at the end of which they will ask that you pledge to vote on the issues by completing a pledge card.  The goal is 30,000 pledge cards - one half of the active female membership.  There are awards for the Local with the greatest participation.  So let’s get talking!

New Members

Again, I would like to welcome our new members and invite you to attend your union meeting the third Tuesday of the month at 7:15 a.m., 12 noon, 3:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., or 11:15 p.m. at 3852 Buchanan Ave SW.

We have many different events during the year.  Please watch the auto view, bulletin boards, or TV monitors for upcoming events.

Help Needed

Now through November 7th we are needed to help on the election.  Local 730’s day is Monday and the time is 7 to 9 p.m. at the CAP office to phone bank.  We are also needed to do lit drops for candidates every Saturday through the election.  So if you can help in any way, please stop by the CAP office at 4330 Stafford (Local 19) or the Dem Headquarters at 909 Cherry Street.

Cap Tickets

All leadership is selling Cap tickets, so if you’d like a chance to win $10,000 or if you would like to help support candidates that support us, stop your committeeperson or anyone in leadership and they’ll be glad to sell you a ticket or a book for $10.
