Proposed Bylaw Change/Addition

 

The UAW Local 730 Bylaws Committee met

February 26, 2008 to consider a revision forwarded to the committee from the January 15, 2008 membership meetings. 

 

In attendance at this meeting were Larry Givens and Joe Ziolkowski.  Rick Bode and Bill Groot were excused.

 

After careful consideration and much discussion, the Bylaw Committee took the following action.

 

BYLAW CHANGE

Date submitted:  January 15, 2008

Maker: Walt Cummings

Supporter:  Andra Jackson

Membership Voted:  February 19, 2008

 

Bylaw Change:  Article XIV, Section 3b:  Nominations shall close at 4 p.m. on the last day of nominations.  Ballot box shall be opened within one hour of that time with three (3) members of the Election Committee present, one from each shift, including the Chairman.

 

New Language:  Nominations shall close one hour prior to the end of the business day on the last day of nominations.

 

Recommendation by Bylaws Committee:  The committee finds no conflict with the International Constitution and since membership has already approved the change/addition, the committee recommends that this new language be forwarded to the International Union.

 

BYLAW ADDITION

Addition to Article III, Section 9:  Local 730 UAW will not permit the use of the member’s mailing list in the promotion or sale of any goods or services that benefit an individual or private concern.  Refer to section 1 under “Business and Financial Activities of Union Officials,” in the Ethical Practices Code section of the UAW Constitution. 

 

Recommendation by Bylaws Committee:

The committee finds no conflict with the International Constitution and existing bylaws, and since membership has already approved the change/addition, the committee recommends that this new language be forwarded to the International Union.
