Layoffs
By now most of you
have heard or have had something rolled out to you about the laying off of
179 members to take affect December 3. This is for the main plant only and
does not affect TDO. I am told at this time by management that the heaviest
months will be December and January because of volume, and then things
should start picking up a little in February.
The Benefit Reps will
have a package together to be rolled at your normal team meeting times on
the week of November 26. You will go to a conference room (to be determined
later) instead of going to your team meeting. So if you have the seniority
and are considering taking the layoff, please be patient and wait for them
to roll this out.
Attendance Policy
Labor Relations has
rolled out the new Attendance Policy to management. It will be the local
union’s responsibility to roll it out and to make sure the membership
understands it, and management’s job to administer it. Please feel free to
ask any questions and we will answer them.

Local Negotiations
Update
We have not met with
management since October 19, and we will resume when we have clear direction
from the International Union and the corporation on the issue of core and
non-core work and classifications.
We, on the committee,
want to present an agreement that can be explained with nothing hidden so
the membership knows what they are voting on. We will resume our 2nd Step
meetings with Labor again until we resume negotiations.
Holidays
The committee wishes
each member to have a safe and happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with
their family. And please remember our men and women serving in the armed
forces that won’t have an opportunity to be with their families.
In solidarity,
Steve Rop
