Shop Chairman’s Report November 2006 by Steve Rop
Louie Schreuder, Zone A Committeeman & Recording Secretary Committee Members: Rick Bode, Russ Bolthouse, Mike Carlson, Nancy Fopma, Marty Green, Doug Lail, Duane Sprague, and Mike Yorton
People Movement We have implemented Document 70 of the National Agreement for production technicians for a period of time from October 16 - November 26, 2006. Employees will be allowed seniority permitting, starting on November 27th though December 17th, and then will be in effect again December 18th through February 4th, 2007. The reason for this is to help with the launch of the 900 truck program.
Temps Currently the A-9's can be retained until December 10, 2006. Management has not approached me yet to extend them any longer at this point, but I am expecting them to, due to the fact that the requisition that we have in is not being filled as quickly as we would like.
New Work MFD Divisional Manager Jim Deluca was in the plant on November 10, 2006 for the Harbour visit. While he was here he reconfirmed to me that the Epsilon work is still scheduled to come to our location as committed.
Safety On November 2, 2006, Louie, the UAW Health & Safety Reps, myself, and some of the Management staff went to Saginaw Metal Castings; which is a foundry. We went to observe what they are doing when it comes to safety. We wanted to visit this plant because it has received Chairman’s honors. Hopefully we can learn from that visit so we can stop having injuries here.
Elections I was very pleased with the results at both the State and National levels, but that is just my opinion. I would like to thank all of our members that volunteered their time before, during, and after the election.
In closing I would like to wish you and your families a very safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.
In solidarity,
Steve Rop Shop Chairman Local 730, UAW |
