  Standing  Committee Reports

Chairman’s Report by Steve Rop, Chairman

Louie Schreuder, Zone A/Recording Secretary

Committee Members:  Russ Bolthouse, Mike Carlson,

Nancy Fopma, Marty Green, Doug Lail, and Duane Sprague

Elections

Now that the election for Skilled Trade Delegates and the majority of the Executive Board are over, I would like to congratulate the members who won.  And to those who did not get re-elected, thank them for all of their dedication and years of service to the local union.

I would also like to thank Louie Schreuder, Zone A Committeeperson, who is retiring July 1 for his years of service and dedication to this local union.  As a friend, I wish him good health and happiness, along with every other member that is retiring.

Summer Shutdown

As of this writing, most of the groups in TDO will be working both weeks.  The second week there will be some production and loading of trucks.  We are having weekly meetings with management to be updated on the latest changes, if any.  There is the possibility of members in some groups being forced on the second week.

Local Contract

Now that the local agreement has been ratified, we are also having joint rollout meetings with management to make sure there are no misunderstandings on what was agreed to, and when and how to implement any changes.  Also, with the help of health and safety, where training is involved.

Layoffs and Job Bank

Currently, the majority of members that were on layoff have been called back.  We currently have Patternmakers, TDO Bench, and Electricians in the bank.  When in the bank, they can be used for backfill in their specific trade when the person they are replacing is in training.

SAP’s

The final number of members that are taking one of the packages is 331, with 224 leaving the week of June 30.  With all of this talent leaving in the various classifications, and Paragraph 63’s being honored, there will have to be a lot of training done.

In solidarity,

Steve Rop
