Chairman’s Report by Steve Rop, Chairman

Louie Schreuder, Zone A/Recording Secretary

Committee Members:  Rick Bode, Russ Bolthouse, Mike Carlson,

Nancy Fopma,  Marty Green, Doug Lail, Duane Sprague, and Mike Yorton

August 2006

ATTRITION

I would like to start with letting the membership know the breakdown of how many brothers and sisters are leaving and when.  There were a total of 650 people signed up to take one of the four options that were available; 313 skilled and 337 production/production support.  A little less than half of these members have already left.  Management currently has a requisition in for 65 production people, which most of them will come from Delphi plants within the area hire and to report here throughout the month of September.

GIVING THANKS

I would personally like to thank all of the people involved for their efforts and quick response in saving the life of Brother Brian Boldt after he suffered a heart attack in the plant Sunday, August 6.  I hope that all of you will keep Brian in your thoughts and prayers for a complete and speedy recovery.

SAFETY

I would like to ask the membership’s help with the “Brothers Keeper” concept with the new people in the plant; A-9’s, transfers, and people that are new to different departments.  Some of these people have never been in a stamping plant and need to take extra care in being aware of their surroundings.  Please - do not take unnecessary risks.

PLANT VISION

Management recently shared with the committee their vision going forward into 2011.  This included upgrades for several existing press and blanking systems, some new equipment, and also the metal assembly work that was announced earlier this year.  I asked what kind of price they would come with, but did not receive a breakdown.  This would also be subject to corporate approval.

CALL IN’S

Recently, because of the attrition and other factors, management has been calling more and more members at home for overtime opportunities.  A committeeperson is to be present when employees are called and reporting back, that several members do not have good phone numbers on file.  So for your own benefit, please make sure you have your correct phone number and address on file.

In solidarity,
