management made unilateral manpower adjustments that in some way affected
nearly all the Production Teams. Management shared their plan with us, but
it was definitely a “we were told – not asked”. We haven’t agreed with
their plan from the start and have been disputing their numbers ever since.
Since May 8, (along
with help from the affected Teams and Ergonomics), we have been able to
prove to management that their numbers were wrong in several areas. The
result of this has been that 24 job codes where people were originally
removed have since been returned to the Teams listed on this page.
We are in no means
finished with pursuing this issue. We will continue utilizing the
appropriate resources and talking with management until a realistic
resolution is reached. We realize that we have to make continuous
improvement and become as efficient as we can, but we are not going to do it
in a way that hurts our people or puts the future of this facility in
jeopardy.
We would like to
thank the membership for their help and patience as we work through this
issue, and we will keep you posted as to any further developments.
Fraternally,
