  Standing  Committee Reports

Chairman’s Report by Steve Rop, Chairman

Louie Schreuder, Zone A/Recording Secretary

Committee Members:  Rick Bode, Russ Bolthouse, Mike Carlson,

Nancy Fopma,  Marty Green, Doug Lail, Duane Sprague, and Mike Yorton

March 2007

Summer Help

A requisition has been submitted for approval of up to 50 temps.  Once approved, referral forms will be distributed at a later date, and the same selection process will be used as last year.

E and GG Line Agreement

The committee and management came to an understanding to apply the 003-PP3 Agreement to these press systems.  Whenever we do something like this, it has to be a “something for something” and this decision is not made lightly.  In return for doing this, money was, and is being spent on a partial refurbishment of these presses, as well as, 63 hours of new work brought in.

NN-1 and Y-1

These presses have been sold and are to be taken out under due care.  Contractors will be removing them during a time period of April 1 through June 1.  So during this time, we will have our Maintenance Trades performing other work within the plant.

EPSILON Work

We are still on track to perform this work in our plant.  There was a holdup temporarily, due to not passing the frontal crash test.  To strengthen this process, an adhesive had to be added, which can be done here and still sent to the assembly plant without jeopardizing the integrity of the process.

Local Demands

Currently, we are asking the membership to submit their local demands.  Forms will be available outside the work center and benefit office.  Once again, if you need help in writing a demand, please feel free to ask your Committeeperson or Zones for assistance.  All local demands must be submitted by Friday, March 30, 2007

The committee will start going through them and getting them in order the first week of April.  A meeting has been scheduled to go over the submitted local demands with the membership Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the union hall.  This meeting will start at 1:00 p.m. and continue until finished.

Safety

In the last couple of months, it seems we are doing better in this area.  From the union’s standpoint though, we need to continually improve in the area of safety until we reach the point where no one is getting hurt or put in harms way.

In solidarity,

Steve Rop
