  Standing  Committee Reports

Chairman’s Report by Steve Rop, Chairman

Louie Schreuder, Zone A/Recording Secretary

Committee Members:  Rick Bode, Russ Bolthouse, Mike Carlson,

Nancy Fopma,  Marty Green, Doug Lail, Duane Sprague, and Mike Yorton

I would like to start out by welcoming everyone back to work and hope that you and your families had an enjoyable holiday break.

Postings

We currently have postings up for the positions of first and second shift Alternate Health and Safety Reps, and Joint Training Representative.  All are Document 46 positions and the deadline for applying is 12 noon Friday, January 19, 2007.  Applications are available at the union hall.

Metal Assembly Work Time Frame

March we will start to tear out the 800 Floor Pan and then April continue to tear out the 800 Cowl in preparation for the Epsilon work that is scheduled for installation in October.

Training

Currently, management has plans to vacate the Tannewitz Building some time this June.  If it isn’t sold, they could possibly demolish the building to reduce the tax liability.  All of training will be moved over to the plant, mainly in the front of the building, which is being worked on at the present time.

GG-1 Work

GG-1 work will be starting this month to replace the torque pack unit on this press, and we are trying to secure funding for an upgrade.  Then the work from E-1 will be run in GG, and E-1 will be reworked if funding is available.

GMNA Vice President Visit

Tim Lee, (who took over for Joe Spielman who retired), will be visiting the plant on Wednesday and Thursday, January 17-18. The visit will include:

·        A tour of the plant floor,

·        Meetings with the Shop Committee and Staff, and

·        A presentation on this plant’s perfor-mance and goals.

TDO

Things are already slowing down in TDO and there is the potential for additional layoffs.  There have been some programs canceled, which has a big impact on this group.

In solidarity,

Steve Rop, Shop Chairman
