Benefit Report

March 2008

Diabetic Supplies

Test strips and lancets are a benefit through Northwood NPN.  Please call Northwood at 1(800) 936-9314 for quantity limits, payment guidelines, or for a provider in your area.

If any enrollee requires syringes to deliver insulin, the insulin and syringes are a “package deal” through Medco Health.  (They must be ordered at the same time).  These items can be filled through the mail order program.

Blue Cross Blue Shield TIPS

1.      Make sure your doctor/provider participates with Blue Cross Blue Shield Traditional Care Network for the most benefit.

2.      Confirm insurance information with the provider.

3.      If you receive a bill from a provider, DO NOT pay until you receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from Blue Cross Blue Shield.  This statement will provide valuable information and detail your responsibility.

4.      Visit www.hcbo.com and register as a BCBS member.

5.      For clarification of benefits, BCBS can be reached at 1(800) 482-2210.

Retirement Planning Tools

To help you assess your individual financial circumstances and answer these types of questions, GM has arranged with Fidelity Investments to provide the Fidelity Retirement Income Advantage (FRIA), a comprehensive approach to planning, investing, and managing expenses through retirement.

With FRIA, you have the choice of one-on-one consultations, online planning sessions, or both, at no cost to you.  On-line planning is available at:

gmbenefits.com (and/or)

Action Required

The hourly life insurance beneficiary solicitation project will be handled by MetLife.  The project will begin in March 2008, starting with the retiree population, followed at a later date by hourly employees. The mailings will be staggered and a beneficiary form will be included.  Once you have updated your beneficiaries, you will receive a written confirmation of the beneficiary change.  Make sure you take care of the ones you love.

Retirees

Your pension increase should be received in the next quarter and retroactive to 10-1-07. Once received, if you have questions regarding your increase, call GMBSC at 1(800) 489-4646.

The Special Attrition Program has been launched, which has increased the work load in the Benefit office.  Retirees, please make an appointment before coming to the office. Thank you.
