Benefit Report

Imputed Income & W-2’s

Imputed Income is the value placed on the Legal Services Benefit, Survivor Income, and other similar benefits we are privileged to. This value is reflected on the check stubs of Active Employees throughout the year. Retirees see this value at tax time.  For the calendar year 2005, the Legal services value was $81.34, which will amount to $6.23 that most folks will pay on their taxes.  Other imputed Income amounts vary per individual.

Dependent Eligibility

This is a good time of year to determine if the dependents that you list on your healthcare policy will remain eligible for the 2006 calendar year.  GM’s healthcare criteria is based on claiming a dependent on your income tax return, which happens after the calendar year is done.  So that is not a good time to find out that you should have taken the dependent off your policy!  Dependents are eligible for healthcare by being claimed on income tax returns or by court order.  Be sure you are okay in this area.  To remove a dependent, Fidelity needs to record your voice. Contact them at 1(800) 489-4646.

Credited Service Audits

Normally, active employees can check your Pension Credits by GM’s website: www.gmbenefits.com  Fidelity has let us know that this feature is currently not working correctly.  We will advise you when this function is made available again and is working correctly.

Changes in Blue Cross Coverage

We found out last fall about changes in healthcare coming later this year for active

employees and retirees.  Details of these changes will be rolling out again in future months, but we do know of a couple changes that will affect folks with Blue Cross coverage. In the past, covered contracted services could be paid in full with Non Participating physicians, because of a “Hold Harmless” clause in our contract.  Later this year, this ability to get the Blues to pay full amounts will be gone.  More emphasis will be placed on using “Participating Providers” for covered services.

Flu Shots are now a covered benefit with Blue Cross, but only when billed by participating providers.  This does not include an RN!

Priority Health HMO

This closed group will be open to new hourly enrollees later this year, possibly in June.  All of the details are not available yet.  If you are interested, stay tuned!

Beneficiaries for Life Insurance and PSP

Do you know who they are?  Do you have records for your family?  Make changes online at www.gmbenefits.com or forms are available by calling Fidelity 1(800) 489-4646.
