Retiree’s should be receiving 1099R statements for federal income tax. You should also receive a W2 statement that notes the Imputed Income cost of the UAW/GM Legal Services Plan. This service is available for all of us to use, and so the cost is shared by all of us equally whether or not we actually used their services during the 2006 plan year.
Some of you also have Imputed Income for Life Insurance or Educational Benefits noted on your W2. If you need a duplicate statement, contact the GM Benefit and Services Center at 1(800) 489-4646. The Pension Unit provides duplicate 1099R statements and the Health and Life Unit provides duplicate W2’s.
As I am retiring January 1, this is my last report. I was appointed by the UAW as an alternate Benefit Rep in 1984 and became a full time Rep in 1989. It has been my privilege and great fortune to have had the opportunity to serve you. Although many people were responsible for my education and training, I would like to acknowledge Stu Wilson in particular for the role he played in my development. I have worked with a lot of terrific people and will miss seeing them on a regular basis. It is one of my goals in retirement to not let those friendships slip away. I am confident my brother and sister Benefit Reps will continue to take very good care of us, even as the job becomes more and more challenging. I look forward to seeing you at retiree gatherings.
Be well and God Bless! Jerry Reid
